A place where the underserved youth of Los Angeles can come together to connect with a supportive community. They will develop skills in a safe space and grow at their own pace regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status.
The mission of our non-profit organization, The Outdoor Initiative, is to mentor our students by using the engagement of outdoor adventures in L.A.’s natural surroundings.
With our team of action based, compassionate, and empathetic mentors, we will help our future generation tap into their hidden passions and inspire a connection with the outdoors.
Guided hikes at the Griffith Observatory and other locations provide our students a chance to explore the great outdoors while learning about local flora and the wildlife that surrounds us. These hiking endevors promote physical well-being and spark curiosity about the natural world and beyond.
Our ocean awareness programs immerse our students in the wonders of the ocean, educating them about marine life and marine conservation efforts. These activities foster a sense of responsibility and a passion for protecting our environment
Our surfing programs provide more than just fun; they build confidence, resilience, and a deep connection to nature. Many of the students we've worked with discovered a newfound sense of accomplishment and self-belief through surfing.
Our kayaking trips allow our students to navigate through serene waters, fostering teamwork and providing a unique way to connect with nature. These experiences help build confidence and a sense of achievement in a supportive environment
Go-karting events offer an exciting and fun way for our students to experience the thrill of racing. This activity promotes friendly competition, quick thinking, and teamwork, helping to develop important life skills in an engaging setting.
